Former Uttar Pradesh CM Kalyan Singh No More

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have expressed grief over the demise of Kalyan Singh.

 

Former UP CM Kalyan Singh is no more. He breathed his last at SGPGI at the age of 89. Former CM of UP and Governor Kalyan Singh was hospitalized for two months. He was on ventilator for 7 days. On June 21, he was admitted to Lohia Hospital in Lucknow due to shortness of breath. He was shifted to PGI on July 4 after his health deteriorated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have expressed grief over the demise of Kalyan Singh.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also condoled his death. Adityanath said that his funeral would be held on Monday, August 23, on the banks of the Ganges at Naroora. This day will be a public holiday in the state, so that people can pay homage to him.

Meanwhile, 3 days state mourning has been declared in UP.

 

The first CM of BJP in UP

Kalyan Singh was the first CM of BJP in UP. He had taken an oath to build a Ram temple by going to Ayodhya with the entire cabinet after becoming the CM for the first time. Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of UP when the Babri structure was demolished in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992. He is infamously known for not allowing police to fire at Karsevaks who were involved in destruction of Babri mosque.
