Heavy Rains Expected In Mumbai, Thane and Palghar Today, IMD Issues Alert For Coastal Gujarat

The deep depression will move towards the coast of Gujarat. After that, the intensity of rains in the state will decrease, IMD said.

The Indian meteorological department has forecast heavy rains in Konkan and strong winds in central Maharashtra today. Heavy rains are also expected in Mumbai and Thane districts. Marathwada, Central Maharashtra and the Konkan have been hit hard by the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal which has now moved towards the Arabian Sea.

It has been raining heavily in the state for the last two to three days. The worst hit is Pune and Sangli districts in western Maharashtra. Along with paddy and soybean crops, houses have also been damaged. Many crops have been hit hard by the overnight incessant downpour. Farmers in Beed, Latur and Osmanabad districts have suffered heavy losses. There were floods in some places. Now that the rains have subsided, the water is slowly receding. However, the warning of rains has once again raised concerns among farmers.
