The Himachal Pradesh and Punjab police today launched a special drive to crackdown on drugs in the hill-state’s Kangra district that borders Punjab, a senior police official said.
SSP Kangra Santosh Patial informed that the joint operation was being conducted with the active assistance of Pathankot police within the jurisdiction of police station Nurpur and Indora to nab drug traffickers.
Checking hotels, restaurants and guest houses situated in the area of Nurpur, Kandwal, Indora, Damtal and Dhangupeer is being carried out and search operation is going on, said Patial.
A meeting with SSP Pathankot is being convened in Dharamshala tomorrow to chalk out a strategy to eradicate the menace of drugs, he added.
Patial also appreciated the efforts of Sunil Jain, Circle Head PNB Dharamshala, for installing CCTV cameras at public places in the towns of Ballah, Kotla, Dhaliyara, Rehan, Jassure and Shahpur in the district.
Such kind of support rendered by Punjab National Bank will help the police in preventing and detecting offences as well as ensuring better traffic regulation in the area, said Patial.
