Independent MP Mohan Delkar Found Dead In Mumbai Hotel, Police Suspect Suicide

The leader was Congress president of Dadra and Nagar Haveli when he quit the party in 2019 to contest the national election as an independent.

An independent MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mohan Delkar, was found dead at a hotel in Mumbai today. According to Police sources, initial investigations point at suicide. The 58 years old parliamentarian is survived by two kids. He was found dead at a hotel on Marine Drive and a suicide note had been found, police informed.

“A suicide note has been found. Investigation is being done. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem,” Mumbai Police said in a statement.

Mr Delkar was earlier in the Congress party and had served as an MP for sever terms. The leader was Congress president of Dadra and Nagar Haveli when he quit the party in 2019 to contest the national election as an independent.

Mr Delkar had represented Dadra and Nagar Haveli in parliament since 2004.

He was also a member of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice and also a member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs.
