India Reports 75,000 Cases Of COVID In A Single Day, Highest So Far

The ministry also said that with an average of more than 800,000 tests every day, India has scaled up testing per million to more than 27,000.

Registering 75,760 new confirmed infections in the past 24 hours, India has recorded another single-day record of new coronavirus cases. 1023 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours, taking fatality count due to coronavirus to 60,472, the health ministry said on Thursday.

In a previous highest count, India had reported 70,488 cases on August 22. The country has been recording more than 60,000 daily cases for over two weeks now and has reported 3.3 million cases since the pandemic began.

The ministry also said that with an average of more than 800,000 tests every day, India has scaled up testing per million to more than 27,000.

India’s recovery rate is now around 76% with a fatality rate of 1.84%, it further added.

India remains the third worst-hit country by the pandemic in terms of cases reported, below the United States and Brazil. In fatalities, India is the fourth worst-hit country.
