Six People Including Shiv Sena Office-Bearer Arrested After They Beat Up Ex-Navy Officer

The retired naval officer, according to the FIR filed by him, was attacked by Shiv Sena workers on Friday for sharing a cartoon that mocked Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

On Friday, the Mumbai police held six people, including a shakha pramukh and one member of Shiv Sena, for allegedly beating up an ex-Navy officer in Kandivali East.

Kamlesh Kadam, a Shiv Sena Shakha Pramukh and another party worker Sanjay Manjre are among the six arrested. The retired naval officer, according to the FIR filed by him, was attacked by Shiv Sena workers on Friday for sharing a cartoon that mocked Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

The FIR was registered at Samata Nagar Police Station. Additional Commissioner North Region Dilip Sawant, at the time, had assured that the action will be taken against those responsible for the attack.

The Samata Nagar police, within few hours, arrested Kamlesh Kadam, a local shakha pramukh of Shiv Sena, and Sena worker Sanjay Manjre, who is accused of participating in the attack.

In a video shared by BJP MLA Atul Bhatkalkar on social media, it could be seen that six men barged inside a residential property, dragged Madan Sharma out by the collar and could be seen slapping him in the face multiple times.
