Srinagar : Deputy Inspector General of CRPF (operations) Mathev A John Friday said drones will keep surveillance on minority community areas in Kashmir.
Addressing the reporters in Srinagar, he said that Police along with CRPF have recently tested drones which will be used for aerial surveillance for specific areas where minority communities are living. He said apart from aerial surveillance, the security personnel have been deployed at sensitive spots including city hub Lal Chowk to thwart the any untoward incident.
Ahead of Union home minister Amit Shah’s visit to J&K, local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly put in place an aerial surveillance cover for the areas where minorities live in Srinagar as well as Lal Chowk, the city centre.
Police and the CRPF tested drones at Pratap Park area of Srinagar ahead of Shah’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

Talking to reporters, deputy inspector general of CRPF (operations) Mathev A John said CRPF along with the local police have tested drones that will be used for the aerial monitoring of the areas where minorities live. “The step has been taken in the wake of recent attacks on the minority community members and migrant labourers,” he said.87217396
As many as 11 people have been killed in the last two weeks in attacks on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists particularly targeted migrants and minorities, triggering a fresh round of exodus.
In the latest such attack, two migrant labourers were shot dead and another injured in J&K’s Kulgam on Sunday when terrorists opened fire targeting civilians. The previous day, a street-food vendor from Bihar and a carpenter from UP were shot dead in old Srinagar city and Pulwama in separate attacks.
On Wednesday, National Investigation Agency was roped in to probe four cases of civilian killings, the victims being Srinagar pharmacist M L Bindroo, Sikh school principal Supinder Kaur and teacher Deepak Chand, Bihari vendor Virendra Paswan and two Bihari labourers, Raja Reshi Dev and Joginder Reshi Dev, who were killed in Kulgam.
