Kathua rape and murder case: J&K court directs to register FIR against SIT members

The court directed the police to register an FIR against the six members of the SIT who had investigated the rape and murder case of minor girl in Kathua.

 

New Delhi| A Jammu and Kashmir court on Tuesday directed the police to register an FIR against six members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the gang rape and murder of a girl in Kathua in 2018. The court directed the police to register an FIR against the six members of the SIT who had investigated the rape and murder case of an eight-year-old girl in a village in Kathua in 2018 and allegedly for making false statements to witnesses.

Judicial Magistrate Prem Sagar, while directing the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Jammu on a petition by the witnesses of the case, Sachin Sharma, Neeraj Sharma and Sahil Sharma, said that a cognizable offence is made against these six people.

The court directed the police to register an FIR against the then SSP RK Jalla (now retired), ASP Pirzada Nawid, Deputy Superintendents of Police Shatambari Sharma and Nisar Hussain, Deputy Inspector of Police Crime Branch Urfan Wani and only Kishore and 11 from Jammu SSP On November, he was asked to submit a compliance report on the next hearing of the case.

District and Sessions Judge Tejwinder Singh sentenced the three main accused to life imprisonment in June this year, while the other three were sentenced to five years in jail for erasing evidence in the case.
