Kejriwal Is Lying Brazenly About Health Care Sector Achievements Of Delhi: Sukhbir

Chandigarh : On Thursday Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal accused Aam Aadmi Party Leader Arvind Kejriwal for lying about his government’s so-called achievements in the healthcare sector in Delhi. He said, “lying brazenly on health sector achievements in Delhi when RTI queries clearly reveal that health facilities in Delhi are a disaster and the worst in the country.”

Badal”s statement came on a day when Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal promised the people of Punjab a “health guarantee” with free treatment and medicines at government hospitals if his party is voted to power in the assembly elections early next year.

Badal alleged that health facilities in the national capital are a “disaster and the worst” in the country.

“Delhi became a national health disaster under Kejriwal especially on the Covid front. Kejriwal had presided over the total collapse of the health infrastructure in Delhi and should not try to mouth lies and mislead Punjabis with false promises when he had failed to achieve anything,” said Badal.

Slamming AAP’s Punjab unit for bringing Kejriwal to give guarantees instead of a party leader from state, he asked: “What is the guarantee of the guarantees given by Kejriwal. What is the guarantee that he will not backtrack?”

Sukhbir was addressing a press conference at party headquarters as he inducted former MP Varinder Singh Bajwa back into the party fold.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president said, “We have a track record of delivering on our promises. We have established AIIMS, PIMS, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and upgraded all community health centres in Punjab during our term in office. Kejriwal has not done a single thing.”

In the press conference Arvind Kejriwal stressed on upgrade of health care. If AAP comes in power after the next assembly elections he will provide free health benefits at public hospitals. He also said that similar to Delhi, all medicines, tests, treatments, and operations would be free of cost. But, Kejriwal did not name a chief ministerial candidate for Punjab but promised that an announcement will be made in this regard in due time.

The six health care promises made by AAP are :-

  1. Free healthcare facilities for all citizens of Punjab.
  2. Free treatment, medicines, operations for everyone. The AAP government will ensure medicines are always available.
  3. Health Card for all citizens, which will have all the historical data of the patient.
  4. Pind Clinic and ward clinic in 16,000 places across the state, replicating the Mohalla Clinic model of Delhi.
  5. Complete revamp of all government hospitals in Punjab, with assurances of new ones.
  6. All road accident victims to get free treatment across Punjab.
