Maharashtra Looks At Graded Exit As Thackeray seeks exit plan from DCs

The total number of cases in Maharashtra, the worst affected state by the virus, nears 25,000 cases with 868 deaths. Mumbai nears 15,000 cases.

Mumbai| On Tuesday, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray asked the district officials to present an exit strategy of their respective areas from the nationwide lockdown by May 15.

CM has also sought recommendations of regulations that need to be imposed as part of the containment strategy.

The state is inclined towards easing constraints further in less-affected areas while maintaining the lockdown in red zones such as Mumbai, Pune and Nashik.

On Tuesday, Thackeray in a video conference with Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors said: ā€œA careful plan should be presented by each district officials regarding the lockdown scenario after May 17 along with suggestions and expectations.ā€

Thackeray, on the lockdown exit plan, highlighted strict lockdown implementation in containment zones (where cases are found in large numbers) and said that the infection should not spread out of these areas.
