In a bizarre incident reported by India Today, at Mudhale village in Baramati, a 76-year-old woman who was believed to be dead came to life moments before she was to be cremated as her family members prepared for her last rites.
Identified as Shakuntala Gaikwad, the woman had tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago and had isolated at home. However, due to old age, her condition deteriorated following which the family decided to move her to a hospital in Baramati.
The elderly woman was taken to Baramati on May 10 in a private vehicle. The family tried to get a hospital bed for her but failed to secure one. As they waited with the woman in the car, she fell unconscious and stopped moving. The family assumed that the woman had died. They also informed their relatives about the last rites.
The family took the woman back to their village and started preparing for the last rites. The woman was placed on the bier for her final journey, as her relatives mourned the loss.
However, the woman suddenly started crying and then opened her eyes. Her family, shocked by this, took her to the hospital immediately.
Policeman Santosh Gaikwad confirmed that the incident had taken place at Mudhale village in Baramati, India Today reported.
Dr Sadanand Kale, the founder of Silver Jubilee Hospital, said the woman was admitted to the Silver Jubilee Hospital in Baramati for further treatment.
