Mallikarjun Kharge Slams PM Modi, Says “Should Have Inaugurated Kashi Vishwanath Corridor On A Holiday”

Congress

Apologize for what? Have we done anything against the rules and the constitution? Asks Mallikarjun Kharge.

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun slams Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid the inauguration of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. He said that PM does not come to Parliament. Kharge said that the PM should have inaugurated the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor on the holiday.

Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday reiterated the demand to revoke the suspension of 12 opposition members of the House and said that even today we will raise the issue of those who are sitting on dharna. Suspension of Rajya Sabha MPs should be withdrawn. He said, all the leaders of the opposition party will meet and after that, we will decide the future strategy.

On the first day of the winter session of Parliament (November 29), 12 members of the Congress and Trinamool Congress and other opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha were suspended from the Upper House for the remaining winter session.

The members who have been suspended include Elamaram Karim, Phool Devi Netam, Chhaya Verma, Ripun Bora, Rajamani Patel, Syed Nasir Hussain, Akhilesh Pratap Singh, Dola Sen, and Shanta Chhetri, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Anil Desai, Vinay Viswam. These all leaders are from the Communist Party of India, Trinamool Congress, and Shiv Sena.

Congress leaders including Kharge are continuously raising the issue of revoking the suspension of 12 opposition MPs. Earlier on Wednesday, Kharge had said that the government did not want to allow the House to function so that the opposition could not raise issues like inflation, firing in Nagaland, Pegasus, and other important issues. MPs of several opposition parties on Wednesday also boycotted the proceedings of the Upper House for the day and sat on dharna along with suspended MPs.

He had said, we raised the same issue and said that the suspension should be revoked. They are saying that they should apologize. Apologize for what? Have we done anything against the rules and the constitution? He questions, who among these 12 members had climbed on the table, and tore the file? Unnominated members have been suspended. Kharge had said, we are ready to run the House. We want to raise all the issues, but the government is not giving us a chance.

Sonu Kanojia

Mr Raut had been charged based on a complaint by BJP National General Secretary Deepti Rawat Bhardwaj on December 9.

Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was booked for using objectionable remarks against a BJP women leader in a TV interview. The Rajya Sabha MP tweeted and claimed that the word simply means stupid in Hindi dictionaries and alleged BJP for pressurizing him.

“An FIR registered against me for the use of word ******. that means Stupid as per Hindi dictionaries. Inspite of this, if a case is registered then it’s nothing but an attempt to pressurize me! BTW, some BJP leaders have used more objectionable words against women leaders, haven’t heard of such FIR against them,” Sanjay Raut tweeted.

News agency PTI quoted an unnamed Delhi Police officer as saying Mr Raut had been charged based on a complaint by BJP National General Secretary Deepti Rawat Bhardwaj on December 9.

Ms Bhardwaj alleged that in an interview on a Marathi news channel on December 9, Mr Raut made “shocking comments” against women BJP workers, made threats against the “life and limb of BJP political workers” and also used abusive language.

The complainant accused Mr Raut of saying he would “bury” the workers.

The complaint against Mr Raut comes in the middle of a fiery parliament session, in which the Shiv Sena and the BJP have clashed more than once.

Mr Raut has alongside been active in attempts to consolidate opposition parties for a united fight against the BJP in the 2024 national election.
