Mamata Banerjee Warns Mahua Moitra Says, “Party Will Decide Who Will Contest Election”

Mahua Moitra replied that she and the party will work towards a “united political front”.

Nadia: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, at the party’s administrative meet, on Thursday, pulled up at Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra. She said that the party will decide who will contest the election. This comes amid infighting in TMC ahead of civic polls in Nadia district.

“Mahua, let me give a clear message here. I don’t need to see who is against whom. If someone does not like a person, he or she sends some people for news on YouTube or in newspapers. This kind of politics can go for one day but not forever,” Mamata Banerjee said during an administrative meeting held by the state government, according to a report by Indian Express.

Mahua Moitra was recently removed as the party’s president of Nadia district and was present at the meeting when Mamata Banerjee directed a message towards her. “There is no reason to imagine that the same person will be in the same position forever,” Mamata added.

Mamata Banerjee said, ”It is not right to accept that the same person will be in the same place forever. When there is an election, the party will decide who will contest. There is no room for disagreement here. We should all work together.”

To this, Mahua Moitra replied that she and the party will work towards a “united political front”.

Mamata referred to posters being put up accusing a faction of the TMC leadership of corruption. Hinting at an inside job, Banerjee said a police investigation had revealed that the allegations were fake.

“It is not the actual incident. It was curated and planted to the media. I have cross-checked it through the CID,” she said. Her stern message comes ahead of impending civic polls in the state.
