“Mamata Spreading Lies About Attack”: BJP To File Complaint With EC

The BJP said it would complain to the Election Commission that Mamata Banerjee is “spreading lies about the attack for politics”.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a day after Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged an attack in which she suffered injuries to her leg and neck, said it would complain to the Election Commission that she’s “spreading lies about the attack for politics”.

To complain against the Chief Minister’s allegation, a delegation of BJP leaders will reportedly meet Election Commission officials in Kolkata.

Posting what it said were witness accounts from the spot, the Bengal BJP tweeted: “Not one eye witness seems to corroborate Mamata Banerjee’s ‘attack’ version. People of Nandigram are upset and angry at her for blaming them and bringing disrepute.”

“Clearly she is nervous about her prospects in Nandigram and has now lost confidence, if any, of the people too…” it further added.

State BJP vice-president Arjun Singh said: “She did drama for sympathy.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was injured during an election campaign in Nandigram on Wednesday after 4-5 men allegedly pushing her and shut the car door on her foot. The incident took place in the evening when Mamata was standing outside a temple in Reyapara. The preliminary report of Mamta Banerjee’s primary medical test came late on Wednesday night, which revealed she suffered multiple injuries. Her left leg has now been plastered. A senior doctor at the Government SSKM Hospital said a first aid test conducted on Mamata Banerjee revealed serious injuries to her left ankle and leg bones. Also, there have been injuries to the right shoulder, neck and wrist.

He said that Mamta Banerjee in the hospital complained of chest pain and breathlessness after the alleged attack in Nandigram. Doctors said she would be kept under surveillance for the next 48 hours. He said the Trinamool Congress chief has a mild fever and has been referred to the special ward in the VVIP block of the hospital soon after an MRI.
