Medal Drought Ends For Indian Hockey! Men’s Team Brings Bronze Back Home

India last won a medal at the Moscow Olympics in 1980. It had won a gold medal in Men’s Hockey.

 

On Thursday, India ended the 41-year drought in the hockey in Olympics by winning the bronze medal by defeating Germany 5-4. At one point, the Indian team was trailing 1-3 in the match, but in the second quarter, India leveled the match at 3-3. And in the third quarter, India secured the bronze to a large extent by taking this lead to 5-3. From here, Germany narrowed the gap by one goal, but could not go beyond a 5-4 lead.

Germany got a penalty corner in the last minute of the match, but it was weakened by goalkeeper Sreejash and with this India bagged the Bronze medal. India last won a medal at the Moscow Olympics in 1980. It had won a gold medal in Men’s Hockey.
