“Shocked By Language of Governor’s Letter”: Sharad Pawar Writes To PM Modi

TestHostEntry

In a letter to PM Modi, Sharad Pawar said, “I am surprised to see the letter issued by the Governor and the kind of language used in the letter.”

Mumbai| Following the letter written by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray regarding opening of religious places in Maharashtra, now NCP chief Sharad Pawar has written a letter to PM Modi. Pawar has questioned the language used by Governor Koshyari in the letter. Pawar has written in a letter to PM Modi that he is shocked by the “intemperate” language of the letter written by Koshyari.

In a letter to PM Modi, Sharad Pawar said, “I want to convey here that the Honorable Governor can have independent views on any issue. I commend the Governor for making the Chief Minister aware of his (Governor’s) views. However, I am surprised to see the letter issued by the Governor and the kind of language used in the letter. ”

The NCP chief further wrote, “I am sure you too must have paid attention to the intemperate language that has been used. In the Preamble of our Constitution, the word ‘Secular’ has been added which shows respect to all religions. Because of this the Chief Minister has to retain it during his tenure.” He said,” Unfortunately, the letter from the Honorable Governor to the Chief Minister seems as if it has been written to the leader of a political party.”

In a letter sent to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Koshiyari had said that he had received three letters from delegations seeking to open the shrines. He also wrote in the letter seeking to question CM Thackeray whether he has received any “Divine Premonition” to postpone the reopening of the temples. He also asked in the letter whether Thackeray has turned Secular-the word he hated earlier.

In response to the letter, Thackeray shot off a stinging letter saying he doesn’t need to learn Hindutva from Governor. He also questioned whether Hindutva for Koshyari meant only the reopening of religious places and whether not opening them meant secularism. Uddhav Thackeray said whether secularism is not an important part of the constitution, in whose name you swore when you were governor.
