Minorities Commission Ex-VC Demands Action Against Baba Ramdev and His Associates

Calling Balkrishna a “fundamentalist goon”, he said that Dr Jayalal is just a convenient scapegoat.

Former Minorities Commission VC, Dr Abraham Mathai, has demanded a suo motu court action against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and his associates for their comments Dr Johnrose Jayalal. He has called the accusations levelled against Dr Jayalal by Acharya Balkrishna “Ridiculous and Non-Sensical”. He said that Balkrishna should be reined in immediately to stop spreading alarmist reports that would instigate communal elements.

After controversy erupted over Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s comment about allopathy being a ‘Stupid Science’ and over 10,000 doctors have died even after taking both the doses of Covid 19 vaccine, his aide Acharya Balkrishna has come up with a conspiracy theory.

Balkrishna in his Tweet said, “As part of the conspiracy to convert the entire country into #Christianity, #Yoga and #Ayurveda are being maligned by targeting @yogrishiramdev jee. Countrymen, wake up now from the deep slumber otherwise the generations to come will not forgive you.”

In a series of tweets, Balkrishna accused Dr Johnrose Jayalal, president of the Indian Medical Association, that he is involved in the conversion of people to Christianity.

Dr Mathai slamming the Balkrishna said, “The Indian Medical Association the best-known guild of doctors in India as well as the largest professional body of doctors in the country is thoroughly secular and non-political in nature. It is inconceivable that the head of the Indian Medical Association would embark on the quest to convert India to Christianity.”
He also demanded that Balkrishna be charged with incitement of communal disharmony for spreading misinformation and running smear campaigns.
“If the British imperial power which presided for over two centuries was not able to convert the population in this nation inspite of their might and resources, how can a professional body comprised of medical experts try doing the same seventy years later during self-rule?” asked Dr Mathai.
Calling Balkrishna a “fundamentalist goon”, he said that Dr Jayalal is just a convenient scapegoat. Dr Mathai also pointed out that the Christian population as per the government census has always remained around 2.3% since India’s Independence. However, he said, the community despite being a micro minority has never failed in its responsibility in society.
He also requested the court to take sou moto cognizance of “reckless, unfounded and irresponsible allegations”.
