Across the globe, COVID-19 has infected 1.9 million people & caused the deaths of 1.2 lakh people, according to the John Hopkins University Tracker.
New Delhi| In attempts to flatten the curve of COVID-19, India has extended its a 21-day lockdown until May 3 as some states are continuing to see a steady surge in cases.
The total number of coronavirus cases has climbed to 11,438 with 377 fatalities. The total active cases are 9,756, while the recoveries are at 1,305.
Out of the total 377 deaths, Maharashtra recorded the most with the count at 178 deaths, succeeded by Madhya Pradesh at 50, Delhi at 30, Gujarat at 28 and Telangana at 17.
The highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country are from Maharashtra at 2,687 followed by Delhi at 1,561 and Tamil Nadu at 1,204.
Maharashtra reported 350 new cases, taking the total to 2,684 cases, with 259 recoveries and 178 fatalities.
Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday said that keeping the situation in mind we have decided to extend the lockdown until 3rd May.
PM has extended the lockdown till 3rd May indicating that a strict lockdown will be followed till 20th April.
After 20th April, some restrictions in unaffected areas will be lifted after analysis.

PM says that whatever relaxations granted during the shutdown to some areas will be upon conditions. And even if there is one new case reported in the area, the relaxations will be taken back.
Proper guidelines on the lockdown extension and its rules will be issued tomorrow, said PM. Talking about daily wagers, Prime Minister says the new guidelines will be made keeping their interests in mind.
PM Modi said that India has 1.5 lakh bed available for the outbreak-related patients and more than 600 hospitals are working for coronavirus treatment.
