NCW Sends Notices To Amit Malviya, Digvijay Singh And Swara Bhaskar

The NCW, in separate notices to Bhasker, Malviya and Singh, said it has come across several Twitter posts wherein the picture of the victim of the alleged gang rape incident was used.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya, Congress leader Digvijay Singh and actress Swara Bhasker were sent notices and sought explanation by National Commission for Women (NCW) over allegedly revealing the identity of Hathras victim on Twitter.

The women’s body has also directed them to immediately remove these posts and refrain from sharing such posts in future.

“@NCWIndia has served notices to @amitmalviya @digvijaya_28 and @ReallySwara seeking explanation on their #Twitter posts revealing the identity of the #Hathras victim along with a direction to remove these posts immediately & to refrain from sharing such posts in future,” the NCW posted on Twitter on Tuesday.

The NCW, in separate notices to Bhasker, Malviya and Singh, said it has come across several Twitter posts wherein the picture of the victim of the alleged gang rape incident was used.

“In view of the above, you are hereby required to provide a satisfactory explanation to the Commission on receipt of this notice and shall remove and refrain from transmission of such pictures/ videos on the social media as they are widely circulated by your follower which is prohibited by the existing law,” the commission said in its notice.

Earlier, a 20-year-old Dalit girl from UP’s Hathras village had been allegedly raped an murder. The succumbed to the injuries last week. The UP Police and administration faced heavy flak for alleged negligence in the handling of the case. To add more fuel to the fire, the police cremated the victim’s body in the dead of night, without the consent of victim’s family as alleged by them.

Many opposition leaders have already met the victim’s family in Hathras. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had earlier gone to the village and met the family of the victim.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday announced the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for theatres and multiplexes opening up after six months.

New Delhi| The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued guidelines related to operations in theatres and multiplexes on Tuesday. The cinema halls are scheduled to reopen from October 15 after being closed for more than six months in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic.

As per the new guidelines, cinema halls are allowed to operate with 50% occupancy so that adequate social distancing can be maintained among the people. The ministry has said that the show timings of the screening will also be changed and a sufficient number of box office counters will be opened to avoid overcrowding. The guidelines have also asked the audience to avoid the crowd during the interval.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday announced the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for theatres. Addressing reporters at his residence, he said that cinema halls would be allowed to open from October 15 with a seating capacity of 50 per cent. It will also be mandatory to wear a mask and keep a one-seat distance between the audience.

He said, “The cinema houses have been closed for the last seven months. They will now open from 15 October. We have prepared SOP for the safety of the people. 50 per cent people will be allowed to sit in cinema houses,” he said.

Javadekar said that it would be mandatory to show or announce a one-minute film to spread awareness about how to prevent Coronavirus infection. He said, “After the end of one show, the entire hall will have to be sanitized only then the second show will start. More windows have to be opened for booking tickets in a single screen. Online ticket booking will be encouraged everywhere. Packed food will be available.”

He hoped that the SOP would follow and people would be able to go to theatres from October 15 and watch movies.
