Kolkata | Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF) today arrested another suspected Jamatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operative over his alleged role in a low-intensity blast in the Buddhist pilgrim town of Bodh Gaya in Bihar during the Dalai Lama’s visit in January.
The accused was picked up from the Bandel Railway Station in Hooghly district, an STF officer said.
Acting on a tip-off, the STF unit of Kolkata Police nabbed Hajibulla when he was trying to buy a ticket, he said.
“Hazibullah had helped in procuring explosive that were used by JMB cadre in Bodh Gaya mines, which they had planted on January 19,” he said.
Hajibullah, a resident of Murshidabad, was booked under various sections of the IPC besides criminal conspiracy and explosive acts. He was remanded to police custody till June 24.
The Kolkata Police STF had so far arrested five JMB operatives from different parts of the state in the case.
