“Pakistan, Afghanistan Handled COVID-19 Better Than India”: Rahul Gandhi On IMF Data

New Delhi| In yet another sharp attack on Modi Govt’s handling of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi slammed the Central govt. Tweeting the International Monetary Fund’s projection for Indian Economy he took a dig at the Centre. He said it was another “Solid Achievement” by the Modi govt. the IMF Data showed that the Indian economy is set to contract by massive 10.3 per cent by March 2021. It also showed that Bangladesh’s Per capita GDP is set to exceed India’s by March 2021.

Rahul Gandhi shared an infographic of Economic Outlook of other South-East Asian countries as presented by IMF and said that even Pakistan and Afghanistan have handled COVID-19 Crisis better than India.

The IMF Projection for Economies around the world shows that India’s GDP Growth is set to be in negative i.e. 10.3 per cent followed by Afghanistan which is projected to be down by 5%. Sri Lanka’s GDP growth is likely to be -4.60 per cent and Pakistan’s -0.40 per cent. On the other hand, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Nepal and Bangladesh are set to record positive GDP growth despite pandemic.
