PM Modi and Trump clarify once and for all: “No third party intervention on Kashmir”

Biarritz | Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump on Monday on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in the French town of Biarritz.

The duo discussed various including trade, security, military, and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday rejected any scope for a third party mediation between India and Pakistan on Kashmir, saying the two countries can discuss and resolve all issues bilaterally and “we don’t want to bother any third country.”

“India and Pakistan were together before 1947 and I am confident that we can discuss and solve our problems together”, PM Modi said, addressing a press conference after their talks.

“We spoke last night about Kashmir, Prime Minister (Modi) really feels he has it under control,” said Trump.

Earlier today, Trump had said that he will discuss the Kashmir issue during his meeting with PM Modi. Donald Trump has time and again offered to mediate on the Kashmir issue.

Recalling his telephonic conversation with Pakistan PM Imran Khan, PM Modi said “I told him that both our countries have to fight against poverty, illiteracy, backwardness and both should work for the betterment of our people.”

After the abrogation of Article 370, tensions between India and Pakistan have peaked, with the latter insisting on international interference, requesting the UNSC and UN.

India has categorically told the international community that the scrapping of Article 370 was an internal matter.
