PM Modi Reaches Leh To Review Security Situation Amidst India-China Border Tensions

PM Modi is accompanied by Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat and Army Chief General MM Naravane.

 

New Delhi| As the border standoff along LAC in Ladakh continue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid a surprise visit to Leh. PM Modi will review security situation and also the progress in the talks with Chinese military. He will later speak to soldiers and also meet those injured in June 15 border clash at military hospital.

PM is accompanied by Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat and Army Chief General MM Naravane. His visit comes a day after Defense Minister Rajnath Singh cancelled his Ladakh visit. The visit was cancelled as government wanted to wait and see whether the Chinese side honours agreement reached in June 30 border talks.

The third military-level talk between the two country was held on June 30 and it was decided that both the militaries will maintain distance and go back further.
