Priyanka Gandhi Demands Justice In Lakhimpur-Kheri Case

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation, announced the withdrawal of all three new agricultural laws yesterday. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has held a press conference today regarding this decision of the Modi government. Priyanka has welcomed this decision of the government. At the same time, she has demanded from the government that now the families of farmers who died after being crushed under a car in Lakhimpur Kheri in UP should also get justice.

Priyanka Gandhi said, “Ashish Mishra, son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, has been accused of crushing farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri. But the BJP government is trying to save the accused. If you (PM Modi) share the stage with the accused, then a direct message will be sent that you are giving protection to the people who have crushed the farmers.

Government should give financial help to the victims’ families – Priyanka

Priyanka further said, “If your intention towards farmers is clear, then do not sit with Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni at the Director General of Police’s conference in Lucknow today.” To give justice, you should sack Ajay Mishra, Minister of State for Home.” Priyanka demanded that the government withdraw the ongoing cases against all the farmers and give financial help to the families of the victims.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that the government has decided to repeal three agriculture laws, against which farmers have been protesting since last year. He appealed to the protesting farmers to return home. In his address to the nation on Friday on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Prime Minister Modi said that these laws were for the benefit of farmers but he apologized to the public that the government could not persuade a section of farmers.
