Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Allowed To Go To Hathras

In the wake of section 144 imposed in the village, only five people, including Gandhis, are allowed from Congress to visit the grieving family in Hathras, news reports said.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are allowed to travel to Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras and meet the family of the 20-year-old Dalit woman who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered last month. In the wake of section 144 imposed in the village, only five people, including Gandhis, are allowed from Congress to visit the grieving family in Hathras, news reports said. Rahul Gandhi was seen addressing a huge gathering of his followers who had come to support him and made them aware of the developments.

After his first attempt to go to Hathras was foiled by the Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday, Gandhi was again traveling towards the village today along with Priyanka Gandhi and 37 MPs of the Congress Party.

In the morning, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted that “no power could stop him from visiting the family of the victim”. He also challenged the government to stop him if they can.

“Nothing in the world can stop me from going to Hathras to meet this unhappy family to share their pain,” he had tweeted.
