Rajya Sabha’s winter session scheduled from December 11 to January 8

New Delhi | The Upcoming Winter session in the upper house of the Indian parliament i.e Rajya Sabha will begin from 11th December and will run until 8th January.

Asper an official statement, the Rajya Sabha will have 20 seating during the entire Winter session. The session will begin on the day the results of the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram will be declared.

According to sources, both the houses (Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha) are likely to be adjourned after offering condolence to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajyapee who passed away on 16 August. Earlier this month Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs conducted a meeting to decide the dates of parliament’s winter session.

New Delhi | A Delhi court on Tuesday announced Death sentence to one of the convicts in the killing of 2 Sikh men during the 1984 Anti Sikh riots.

Along with the first capital punishment in the 38-year-old case, Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Pandey also announced a life sentence to another convict Naresh Sherawat. Both Naresh Sherawat and Yashpal Singh were earlier convicted for the killing of Hardev Singh and Avtar Singh in Delhi’s Mahipalpur during the riots. The sentence was announced in the Tihar Jail concerning the security of the convicts in the court premises.

Responding on the judgement Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Kumar Gyanesh said,” Death sentence to Yashpal Singh & life imprisonment to Naresh Sehrawat in 1984 Anti-Sikh riots case. Both convicts fined with Rs 35 lakh each. The verdict was pronounced in Tihar Jail instead of the court.”

Asper official data, more the 2800 people belonging to the Sikh community were killed in India during the anti-Sikh riots after the then prime minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards.
