India registered over 3,500 COVID-19 related cases in 24 hours amid national lockdown alarming the governments across the country.
New Delhi| The total cases in India surged to 74,281 including over 24,000 cured/discharged or migrated and 2,415 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
In the past 24 hours, 122 casualties were recorded. A staggering 3,525 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Today, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan communicated with Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh to review readiness and containment steps taken for COVID-19 management.
He informed that the doubling time in the past 14 days was 10.9, it has improved to 12.2 in the last three days. He said that the fatality rate in the country is 3.2 per cent and recovery rate has improved to 31.74 per cent.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan highlighted that the nation’s testing capacity has increased to one lakh tests per day with 347 Government laboratories and 137 private laboratories. AIR correspondent reports, over 17 lakh sixty-two thousand eight hundred forty tests have been done so far for COVID-19.
Across the country, at least 24,386 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 31.7%.
Currently, there are 46,008 active COVID-19 patients in the country

A total of 280 government laboratories in the country is conducting tests for the novel coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research has said. ICMR also issued a list of 90 private labs which will conduct the testing.
Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases topped 4,230,000 while the death toll crossed 290,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.
