Two Terrorists Killed In Separate Encounters

Srinagar : Two Terrorists who were planning to attack on Jammu and Kashmir, were killed in Srinagar on Thursday night and at Kulgam on Friday morning. The information of encounter is shared from police officials.

In the Srinagar encounter, one terrorist was neutralized, and one AK rifle along with ammunition was recovered.

Earlier, acting on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the Chawalgam area of Kulgam in south Kashmir, security forces launched a cordon and search operation, a police official said.

As the forces were conducting the searches in the area, the militants fired upon them, he said.

The forces retaliated leading to an encounter, the official said.

Two terrorists, are identified as Shiraz Molvi and Yawar Bhat, were killed in a separate shootout at Chawalgam in the Kulgam district.

One Of The Terrorists Was Planning A Suicide Attack

The terrorist who was planning a suicide attack on Thursday night was allegedly killed in an encounter at Srinagar. Amid a spike in violence and heightened counter-insurgency operations in the region following a spate of targeted attacks on civilians, this call was taken said J&K Police.

In a tweet quoting inspector general (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar, the police identified the terrorist as Amir Riyaz. It added he was a relative of an accused in the February 2019 suicide attack that left 40 paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force personnel dead in Pulwama and brought India and Pakistan to the brink of war. The police said Riyaz was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind.

Riyaz was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Srinagar’s Bemina area on Thursday. An AK 47 rifle was recovered from the gunbattle scene.
