Sources say that during the course of Hathras investigation, the SIT has taken the statements of more than 100 people.
Hathras| A three-member SIT headed by Secretary Home Bhagwan Swaroop to investigate the Hathras case will not submit its report today. CM Yogi Adityanath has given the SIT additional 10 days to investigate. UP Additional Chief Secretary (Home Department) Awanish Awasthi said that after the orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the time has been extended by 10 days to submit his report to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Sources say that during the course of its investigation, the SIT has taken the statements of more than 100 people. It includes statements of the accused, police and administration officials besides the victim’s family. Action can also be recommended against some more officers in this case. At the same time, five police personnel including SP, CO of Hathras were suspended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the SIT submitted the initial report.
All four accused have been arrested in the Hathras incident. The UP government constituted a three-member SIT and ordered an inquiry into the allegations levelled by victim’s family and opposition. But questions were being raised about the action of the government and the police regarding this scandal, after which the UP government on Monday transferred the case to the CBI.
