Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party is fighting 138 seats – 122 of them against the Janata Dal United and its ally, Jitin Ram Manjhi’s HAM.
Of the state’s 243 seats, he LJP has fielded candidates against the BJP in only five seats. However, this was done with the permission of the party which Chirag Paswan said would be his partner in government formation after the election.
There are also speculations around the RJD Chief Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks regarding Chirag Paswan. Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav, told reporters: “What Nitish Kumar Ji did with Chirag Paswan was not good. Chirag Paswan needs his father at this time more than ever before but Ram Vilas Paswan is not among us and we are sad about it. The way Nitish Kumar behaved…did injustice to Chirag Paswan.”
Paswan had earlier said he welcomed any attack on him by BJP leaders and even by Prime Minister Narendra Modi if it satisfies Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. However, Paswan also advised the leaders to “use the words wisely”.
Paswan also made to the headlines when he said he was “Hanuman” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Prime Minister is in my heart. Prime Minister Modi was standing with me when I was alone outside my father’s ICU. He gave such an honour to my father. Should I forget all that? He has loved like a father, this is my personal belief just like religion,” Paswan had said earlier.
