CN Ashwathnarayan said, “I will speak to the Superintendent of Police, we need to take action otherwise it will be a complete mockery of the system”
BENGALURU| The nation is under lockdown while loud examples are around many families have to postpone marriage ceremony due to lockdown but Karnataka’s former CM HD Kumaraswamy still managed to get their grandson married.
On Friday, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, Actor turn Politician and the son of former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy, tied knot with Revathi, the grandniece of the former Congress Minister for Housing M Krishnappa.
In a VVIP wedding at the farmhouse in the outskirts of Bengaluru in Ramanagara, Nikhils Kumaraswamy’s wedding was conducted. The media was banned from covering the marriage scenes. Media was not allowed to enter Ramanagara district while around 30-40 cars were seen heading towards the location from Bengaluru.
While talking to media few days back HD Kumaraswamy said that they have asked for all the prior permissions from the Karnataka government. Police said officials said the family had provided them with the registration numbers of the cars that had to be allowed.
The BS Yediyurappa government had also said that it will keep a close watch on the wedding that will also be videographed. Karnataka Deputy CM CN Ashwath Naraya said that the state government will ask the concerned authorities to film the entire wedding event. Government officials had said, “If social distancing norms are not followed, action will be taken.
HDK had also said that several family doctors were consulted before proceeding with the wedding of his son Nikhil.
But still, the social distancing seems lacking while the ceremony was conducted. The wedding was initially to perform in Bengaluru later they shift the venue. In a video message, the Janata Dal-Secular leader said the wedding had been moved from Bengaluru, a “red zone” for COVID-19, to Ramanagara, his assembly constituency. He appealed to supporters to stay away from the venue, promising a bigger event when the situation returned to normal.
“It would be difficult to maintain social distancing if the event was organised at home. That’s the reason we are organising the event at our farmhouse in Bidadi. I request my workers and well-wishers to avoid attending the event,” Mr Kumaraswamy said. “Only around 60 to 70 people” of the family would attend the wedding, he claimed.
Following the video released by one of the family members on social media, Deputy CM CN Ashwathnarayan said they will take strict action against the ceremony as the primary concern was social distancing which not seen while performing the wedding.
