‘Why Did the BJP Government Give Me Padma Vibhushan If I’m Pro-Pakistan’ asks Sharad Pawar

Sharad Pawar criticized Modi and said, “I would have liked it if he would have made a statement after taking correct information about what I had said”

Mumbai| The NCP president and veteran politician Sharad Pawar said that why would the BJP government give him Padma Vibhushan if he is pro-Pakistani. In a recent visit ahead of Maharashtra Assembly Election PM Modi slammed Sharad Pawar over his love for Pakistan. Modi Questioned Pawar, “Why he likes the Hospitality of Pakistan so much?”

Modi said, “I can understand the confusion of the Congress. But Sharad Pawar? I feel bad when an experienced leader like him makes wrong statements for votes. I like the neighbouring country. but everyone knows where the terror factory is”.

“Verify before accusing me”: Sharad Pawar

Responding to his statement Pawar said, “I don’t understand one thing. The Prime Minister is an institution. That institution has many sources to get correct information. I would have liked it if he would have made a statement after taking the correct information about what I had said. But what do I say when the Prime Minister makes a statement without even checking if his information is wrong? If he meant to suggest that my interests lie so much in Pakistan that I am against the interest of my own country, then why did his government give me Padma Vibhushan?”

He stated that “Pakistan’s government and the Military takes an anti-Indian stand for their benefits. Because it is in their interest to say such things. But when I meet the common people over there, many of them have relatives in Lucknow and Hyderabad and wondered how to invite them or meet them. So, the leader’s issues are different from people’s issues. Leaders create an anti-Indian environment there”.

“Modi had failed to maintain the dignity of the office of Prime Minister”

He even stated that “The Padma Vibhushan is second only to the Bharat Ratna. If this BJP government conferred it on me, then it means it thought that I had done some national service which was worthy of it. Why such a contradiction then? On one hand, you give me Padma Vibhushan, on the other hand, you say I have an interest in Pakistan. Such a contradiction by a person who is occupying the highest chair in the country doesn’t look good”.
