AAP MLA Amanatullah Booked For Aiding Wanted Criminal’s Escape

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan has been booked for allegedly obstructing a police operation in Jamia. This led to the escape of a wanted criminal.

According to reports, the Delhi Police Crime Branch had launched an operation in Jamia. The operation’s aim was to detain Shahbaz Khan, who was charged with an attempt to murder.

As soon as the officers successfully took him into custody, Amanatullah Khan intervened, questioning the legitimacy of the arrest. Amid the chaos, Shahbaz Khan managed to escape.

In the recently concluded Delhi Assembly polls in 2025, AAP’s Amantullah Khan defeated BJP’s Manish Chaudhary by 23,639 votes in the Okhla constituency.

Khan received 88,392 votes, while BJP’s Chaudhary garnered 65,304 votes. This marks Amantullah Khan’s third consecutive victory in the Okhla elections.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking directions to change the name of the Bombay High Court to Maharashtra High Court.

A bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Vikram Nath refused to entertain the petition saying these are issues for lawmakers to decide.

The plea was filed by VP Patil, who had served as a judge for 26 years, seeking direction to the authorities to take effective steps for implementation of a clause of the Maharashtra Adaptation of Laws (State and Concurrent Subjects) Order, 1960 for conservation and preservation of distinct culture, heritage and traditions of the people of Maharashtra.

It said that authorities concerned in other states should also be directed to change the names of their high courts as per the name of the states where they are located.
