After Pahalgam Attack, Leaders Express Condemnation and Send Condolences

Leaders from around the world wrote condolements for victims’ families and supported India

World leaders, on Wednesday expressed their condolences to the victims’ families and condemned the attacks on the people in Pahalgam.

“Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice… they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on X.

After hearing of this, Modi cut short his two-day visit in Saudi Arabia after having met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Indian Army personnel said that a search was being made to bring “the attackers to justice”. Amit Shah reached Pahalgam later on Tuesday.

India has long accused Pakistan of harbouring Islamist militant groups that target Kashmir, a claim that Islamabad denies. In the past, militant attacks have sharply escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, both of whom lay rival claims to the Himalayan region. In response to an insurgent attack on Indian soldiers, India conducted air strikes inside Pakistan in 2019.

A spokesperson from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs extending condolences to the victims, added: “We are concerned at the loss of tourists’ lives in an attack in Anantnag district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”

The attack comes one day after JD Vance, Vice President of the US had arrived in India. On Tuesday, Vance expressed his condolences on X, writing: “Over the past few days, we have been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack.”

US President Donald Trump expressed US solidarity with India in opposition to terrorism, condemned the attack and called Modi to convey his condolences to the bereaved families, reported Indian authorities.

Many Leaders from various countries including Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Iran, France, Italy and the UAE also expressed their consolation for all of the victims’ families.
