Allahabad High Court has clarified that the UP Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act 1955 imposes no restrictions on the transportation of beef within Uttar Pradesh or from any location outside the state to one inside. In a recent judgment, the court emphasized that the Act specifically addresses the transport of cows, bulls, or bullocks and only pertains to movement from outside the state to within.

Justice Pankaj Bhatia, stated, “The limitations on transportation outlined in the Act and its accompanying rules apply solely to the transport of cows, bulls, or bullocks from outside Uttar Pradesh to any location within the state.
Nowhere in the entire Act or its rules is there a provision prohibiting the transportation of beef.
