The 16th Madhya Pradesh assembly’s first session stirred controversy as the late Jawaharlal Nehru’s portrait behind the Speaker’s chair was replaced with Dr. BR Ambedkar’s. Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait remains on one side. Congress objected, urging Nehru’s picture restoration, and warned that Congress MLAs would take action if not done.
