Amit Shah Meets Grieving Families; Holds High-Level Security Meeting

The Union Home minister Amit Shah said that those responsible for the attack will not be spared.

On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah went to Srinagar to visit the site where the shooting took place. In a high-level security meeting, Shah met various agencies in relation to the incident. He also met The families of the victims of the attack in Pahalgam. He was there to pay tribute to the victims who lost their lives in the attack.

The families of the victims were all in tears when Shah was there to meet them. He listened to many of them as they spoke to him, unable to hold back their tears.

Following the terror attack on Tuesday, which left 26 people dead, mostly visitors, Shah visited the place the next day. Many others were left injured too in this dangerous attack. He paid his respects to the victims and their families, by laying a wreath outside the Police Control Room there.

The attack involved terrorists targeting tourists, has shaken the nation and is one of the deadliest since the abrogation of Article 370 in the year 2019. Since then security has been tightened in the valley area, especially at particular tourist destinations.

During the security meeting, he stated that those responsible for this heinous act will be punished most severely. He then said that the perpetrators would not be spared. Shah also reported to Modi about the attack.

โ€œAnguished by the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared, and we will come down heavily on the perpetrators with the harshest consequences. Briefed PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji about the incident and held a meeting with the concerned officials via video conferencing,โ€ the home minister said on X.

A statement from the office of Union Civil Aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu that he had discussed the matter with Amit Shah for facilitation of additional flights from Srinagar.

In a show of solidarity with the victimsโ€™ families and to condemn the attack, political parties and tradersโ€™ unions in the region have called for a complete shutdown across the Kashmir valley on Wednesday.
