Rajya Sabha on Friday passed a bill that aims to curb malpractices and irregularities in competitive examinations and entails provisions for a maximum jail term of 10 years and a fine up to ₹ 1 crore for offences. The bill was passed through a voice vote in the upper house after amendments proposed by some opposition members were rejected. The Lok Sabha passed the bill on February 6. The bill will now be sent for the president’s accent.
