Atul Subhash-Like Case In Delhi: All You Need To Know

Atul Subhash

The suicide of Bengaluru-based techie Atul Subhash a few weeks back had taken the internet by storm. Turns out, another Subhash-like suicide case has come to light in Delhi. In the afternoon of New Year’s Eve,  39-year-old Puneet Khurana was found hanging at his residence in Kalyan Vihar.

According to the police, the last person Puneet spoke with was his wife in a phone call around 3 AM on the day of his death, where the argument escalated.

The couple, who were undergoing divorce proceedings, had been married for eight years and were partners in their cafe business. However, they had been living separately for the last two years following frequent disputes.

Before committing suicide, Puneet reportedly recorded a 59-minute Video. While police have not officially confirmed the existence of the video, a 20-minute audio recording has surfaced, capturing a late-night conversation between the couple. In the audio, Puneet is heard discussing disputes over their cafe business and financial matters.

Following their separation, the couple reportedly divided their business interests, with Puneet managing “For God’s Cake Bakery” and Manika taking control of “Woodbox Cafe.”

However, the frictions continued, with Manika allegedly seeking additional compensation despite the court’s ruling regarding their assets.

Towards the end of the conversation, Puneet threatened to expose the truth on YouTube the following morning.

Manika Allegedly accused Puneet of bringing disgrace to her Family and implied that he was threatening to end his life.

Puneet urged Manika to voice her demands, to which she responded that he could leave the house or take his own life if he chose, reflecting the tension and severity of their disputes.

Puneet Khurana’s parents have alleged that estranged wife Manika Pahwa and her Family had been torturing him mentally, and that prompted him to take the extreme step.

The Family has registered a police complaint, demanding action against Manika and her Family.  Meanwhile, A new video has surfaced in which Puneet Khurana is seen speaking to his father-in-law regarding the transfer of Rs 2 crore for a house. The house is registered in the name of Puneet’s wife.

In the video, Khurana’s father-in-law, Jagdish Pahwa, is seen discussing the transfer of Rs 2 crore for the house. However, Khurana’s Family claimed Pahwa later backed out on his promise. Puneet’s Family claimed Jagdish Pahwa often resorted to threats after going back on his promises. The deceased’s  Family alleged that he was under immense pressure due to such incidents.

Days before Puneet’s suicide, Manika had shared a cryptic Instagram post. In the now-deleted Instagram post, Manika had said that she was free from the “toxicity and narcissistic abuse” to which she had been subjected.

The Delhi police is yet to register an FIR against any accused. Puneet’s Family has refused to cremate his mortal remains until Police Shares His Last Video.

“The father of the deceased  said that his son was going through marital discord and alleged that his daughter-in-law harassed him, which led to his suicide.”

“We have seized the deceased man’s mobile phone, and the Family’s claims are being verified. An inquiry is underway, with both families participating in the investigation.

Manika’s Family has made counter-allegations, and a divorce case is also ongoing,” Bhisham Singh, DCP North West Delhi, was qouted saying by news agency ANI.
