The Calcutta High Court directed the West Bengal government to implement a 1% reservation for transgender persons in public employment. Despite the state’s policy of equal treatment for transgenders in employment, no reservation had been established. Justice Rajasekhar Mantha instructed the chief secretary to ensure this reservation is enforced.
