Calcutta HC Mandates 1% Transgender Reservation In West Bengal

The Calcutta High Court directed the West Bengal government to implement a 1% reservation for transgender persons in public employment. Despite the stateโ€™s policy of equal treatment for transgenders in employment, no reservation had been established. Justice Rajasekhar Mantha instructed the chief secretary to ensure this reservation is enforced.
