CWC Resolution Condemns Pahalgam Attack

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) called for international pressure on Pakistan to stop supporting terrorists

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, labeling it a ‘cowardly act.’

In a resolution passed on Thursday, the CWC held Pakistan accountable for orchestrating the attack, emphasizing that the attackers were part of a broader cross-border conspiracy aimed at undermining India’s stability.

The committee expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, including those of tourists from various parts of India, and extended condolences to the grieving families. The resolution underscored the necessity for India to adopt a resolute and unified approach against terrorism, highlighting the importance of international collaboration to combat terror financing and cross-border terrorism.

The CWC called for stringent action against those responsible for the attack and demanded swift justice. It also pointed out the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, especially following the abrogation of Article 370, urging the government to effectively address security issues in the region.

In response to the attack, the CWC reaffirmed its support for the nation’s security forces and the government’s anti-terrorism efforts, advocating for a comprehensive and long-term strategy to ensure peace and stability in the Kashmir Valley. Additionally, the party reiterated its call for international pressure on Pakistan to halt its support for terrorist activities targeting India.

Additionally, Congress leader Pawan Khera took to social media to question the government’s security protocols, stating, ‘Pahalgam is an area under a three-tier security arrangement, yet a terror attack has occurred. We have raised concerns with the Home Minister as Kashmir is a Union Territory.’

Khera’s statement reflects the widespread demand for justice and accountability across the nation, with political leaders and citizens alike calling for decisive action against those responsible for this tragedy. The Congress’s views on this are also very crucial.
