Cyclone Michaung Drenches Chennai, Prompts Shutdowns, Urges ‘Stay Home’

Chennai faced relentless overnight rainfall on Monday as Cyclone Michaung approached the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipated extremely heavy rainfall in the city and surrounding areas over the next 24 hours.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were mobilized to Chennai, rescuing approximately 15 people stranded in Tambaram due to severe waterlogging.

With water levels surpassing the danger mark, the suspension of bridge no.14 between Basin Bridge and Vyasarpadi was enforced for safety.
