Mumbai: The Delhi Women’s Commission (DCW) on Sunday criticized Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for his comments on rape in the country, saying the prime minister of Rajasthan should stop using the language of rapists.

DCW warned Ashok Gehlot, saying his statements about Nirbhaya were numb and hurt the feelings of rape victims.

“Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot must stop using the language of rapists, the way he made fun of Nirbhaya hurt the feelings of rape victims. We fought hard to enact the law on the hanging of rapists of young children”, chairman of the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal told ANI.

Swati Maliwal also stressed that the minister must strictly enforce the law in his home state as Rajasthan has numerous frontline rape cases. “Instead of making such pointless comments, it is CM Ashok Gehlot’s responsibility to strictly enforce the law as Rajasthan itself witnesses many rape cases,” she added.

Ashok Gehlot’s Statement:
During the congress rally against the central government over rising prices and unemployment on Friday, Prime Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot said that following the entry into force of the law on the hanging of rape accused, the rate of Rape homicides increased across the country.
