A 24-hour nationwide strike organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) began on Saturday. The strike demands justice for the murdered and raped trainee doctor in Kolkata. The protest, running from 6 am Saturday to 6 am Sunday, will halt all health services except for essential ones. The medical fraternity is also pushing for better working conditions for resident doctors and the implementation of a central law to protect healthcare professionals from workplace violence.
