Haryana CM Nayab Saini Takes Sip From Yamuna River

On Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took a sip from the Yamuna river. This move comes amid the heightened political tensions over the ‘Poisioned Yamuna’ controversy.

Saini’s move slammed Delhi CM Atishi Marlena and the AAP government. This comes after the AAP government alleged that the neighbouring state Haryana had poisoned the Yamuna River.

According to reports, Kejriwal asserted that 7 PPM of ammonia was equivalent to “poison”. He alleged that the BJP-led government in Haryana was contaminating the river, putting the lives of Delhi residents at risk.

The AAP chief also challenged the BJP and Congress. He asked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to drink Yamuna water in public.

Saini said: “An unfortunate statement by Arvind Kejriwal was given to create fear in the minds of people for his political benefits. Today, I have come here to the banks of River Yamuna and took a sip of water from Yamuna. He said that the BJP Govt of Haryana has poisoned the Yamuna River. He spoke about mass genocide. The water resource authority took samples from here, and no poison was found in the water. Arvind Kejriwal has lied all his life.”

On Wednesday, Haryana State Minister Vipul Goel said, “The Haryana government would file a case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal over his remark alleging that “poison” was being mixed in the Yamuna”.

According to reports, the case against Kejriwal will be registered in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Sonipat under the Disaster Management Act. The provisions mentioned deal with circulating false alarms that may cause public panic.

Goel, talking to the reporters, said, “Kejriwal has made an irresponsible statement that has spread panic among the people of Delhi and Haryana. The Haryana government is going to register a case against him before the CJM Court in Sonipat under the Disaster Management Act’s Sections 2 (D) and 54.”

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Atishi wrote in a post on X, “I have come to know that you are going to the Palla Ghat of the Yamuna River. I request that you and I go together, along with media representatives. We will measure the ammonia levels in front of everyone. Everyone should know that Haryana is sending poisonous water to the people of Delhi.”

The Haryana CM swiftly reacted to Atishi’s remarks, saying that she was welcome to the Palla village. He further lashed out at the AAP-led government in Delhi for blaming Haryana for its “failures,” including water shortages, stubble burning, and now Yamuna pollution.

In a post on X, Nayab Singh Saini wrote, “Welcome, Chief Minister Atishi Marlena Ji, to the Yamuna bank of Palla village, wearing the sandals of disaster. The water coming from Haryana to Delhi is not poisonous, but your minds are certainly filled with poison. You always keep blaming the people of Haryana—sometimes for water shortages, sometimes for stubble smoke, and sometimes for all your failures.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took a swipe at AAP Supremo Kejriwal. During a public meeting in Delhi’s Kartar Nagar, PM Modi said “AAP-da people” have become desperate, fearing defeat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. “A former CM has made malicious allegations against the people of Haryana. ‘AAP-da’ people have become desperate due to the fear of defeat”.
