Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, addressing a third press conference of his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka today, defended Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani’s meeting with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot post the Rs 60k crore investment announcement by the company.
Rahul Gandhi, coming in support of Congress CM Ashok Gehlot, said no CM can refuse such an offer and its not right for any CM to refuse such business to the state.
“Mr Adani gave a proposal of Rs 60,000 crores to Rajasthan, no CM would refuse such a proposal. Rajasthan CM didn’t give any preferential treatment to Adani or use his political power to help his (Gautam Adani‘s) business. They have not helped him in any way,” Mr Gandhi said.
“My question is why the BJP is giving a monopoly to two-three businessmen. They are helping with the concentration of money,” the former Congress President said.
Rahul Gandhi stressed that the Rajasthan government has not used any political power to help Adani. “The day they do that, I will also be standing against the state government,” the Wayanad MP said.
I will stand even against Congress govt if it creates monopoly.

Echoing Mr Gandhi’s stance, Congress media cell in-charge Jairam Ramesh wrote: “Much media hype is being created over Ashok Gehlot’s meeting with Adani. Adani wants to invest approximately 60,000 crore in Rajasthan. No CM will say don’t invest. Gehlot is very much against cronyism of the Modi variety.”
Much media hype is being created over Ashok Gehlot's meet with Adani. Adani wants to invest approximately ₹60,000 cr in Rajasthan. No CM will say don't invest. There are NO special rules or policies for Adani by RJ Govt. Gehlot is very much against cronyism of the Modi variety.
