In light of the rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent terrorist attack in Pehalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, senior military officials from both nations have engaged in discussions via the hotline.

โ€œDirector Generals of Military Operations of India and Pakistan talked over the hotline yesterday to discuss the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan. India warned Pakistan against the unprovoked violations by the Pakistan army along the Line of Control,โ€ the sources were quoted saying.

New Delhi has issued a warning to Islamabad regarding โ€˜unprovoked violationsโ€™ along the Line of Control, as reported by sources to the news agency ANI. The conversation details emerged on a day when Pakistan breached the ceasefire on the International Border in Jammu, following six consecutive days of unprovoked firing along the Line of Control.

โ€œFurther to the previous update about 29-30 April (night), unprovoked small arms firing by Pakistan Army was also reported from their posts across the Line of Control in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, as well as across the International Border in the Pargwal Sector,โ€ the Indian Army has stated that its troops responded โ€˜appropriatelyโ€™ to these provocations.

In response to the nationwide outrage over the targeted killing of 26 individuals, primarily tourists, India has implemented several diplomatic actions against Pakistan, including the revocation of visas and the suspension of the crucial Indus Waters Treaty, which governs the sharing of water from the six rivers of the Indus system between the two countries.

In retaliation, Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian airlines and has threatened to terminate all bilateral agreements, including the significant Simla Agreement, which acknowledges the ceasefire line established on December 17, 1971, as the Line of Control. The recent ceasefire violations following this announcement also hold significance in this context.
