Today’s story is from the state of Kerala – a Government Nursing School in Kottayam. The Kerala Police arrested five third-year students of the college in connection with the incident. The incident in question began in November last year and was allegedly ongoing till February 10 this year. The series of violent acts continued for nearly three months until a complaint was filed, and the perpetrators were arrested.

The threatening was not done by verbal warning or something but legitimately by placing a knife to the neck of the juniors. All this is just because they refused to give them the money. And refusing the senior was like a crime.

According to the complaint, the seniors would regularly extort money from the juniors on Sundays to buy alcohol. The ones who refused were beaten brutally.

Kerala is known for its impressive higher education system. The State offers a diverse range of universities, colleges, and research institutions. With a gross enrollment ratio (GER) of 41.3, Kerala ranks seventh highest among all states and Union Territories in India.

But that’s just one aspect. What about those who are on campus? How will parents have faith in these institutions and allow their children to study if such incidents continue?
