The mob gathered outside the houses of a BJPโ€™s Dalit MLA Rajkumari Jatav and set their houses ablaze. The mob also tried to set on fire Dalit settlement.

On Monday, several states across India witnessed a bloodied Bharat Bandh protest by the Dalit organization which killed ten individuals and left several injured. However, just a day after the protests, Rajasthan saw a fresh streak of violence erupting in the state with a mob setting Dalit politicians houses on fire, including ruling BJPโ€™s Dalit MLA and former Congress MLA.

The mob gathered outside the houses of a BJPโ€™s Dalit MLA Rajkumari Jatav and one former MLA Bharosi Lal Jatav and set their houses on fire during counter-protest. According to police, the mob was also trying to set the Dalit residential area nearby ablaze. The incident took place 160 KM away from Jaipur in Hindaun, in Karauli district.

Rajasthanโ€™s IGP Alok Kumar Vashishtha confirmed that at least 45 people were arrested in the case of violence on Tuesday adding that other 50 were arrested on Monday. He further said that a mob of about 3000-4000 people took it to the street to protest the violence that took place during Bharat Bandh. โ€œToday, traders, businessmen and non-Scheduled Caste people took out a rally against yesterdayโ€™s violence,โ€ Vashishtha said. Talking about police action on the violent protestors, he said, โ€œThe police were outnumbered. Several police personnel were injured too.โ€

In the wake of such violence, the Rajasthan Police have imposed curfew in Hinduan while internet services in the district are suspended too.
