“Those Who Are Opposing Azaan Have Nothing To Do With Religion,” Says Nitish Kumar

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that different religions have different ways of worshipping, and fighting over one another’s way of worshipping is not right. His comments come amid the ongoing controversy of loudspeakers at mosques intensifies.

This comes days after a BJP minister in his cabinet supported MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s demand and his May 3 deadline for the Maharashtra government to remove speakers from mosques.

He said that people creating controversy around Azaan and loudspeaker at mosques, have nothing to do with religion. He also said that people should follow their religion and no one should be stopped from following their religion.

“People say whatever comes to their mind. There should be an atmosphere of love and brotherhood. Every religion has its own ways. We should not fight among ourselves over this. Everyone should follow their religion. If someone creates disputes over these issues, then he has nothing to do with religion,” Nitish Kumar said, a u-turn from his ally BJP’s stand on the issue.

Speaking of violence in several states on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti he said that his administration is on high alert during such programmes to ensure peace and no communal disputes happen in the state.

Attacking on RJD Nitish Kumar said, “There was an atmosphere of communal tensions in the state before the NDA came to power. After NDA has came in power incidents of communal tension have decreased.”
